Bipolar Disorder (also known as manic depression) is a mental condition that makes you swing between happy and sad. There are two main types: Bipolar disorder I and bipolar disorder II. Bipolar disorder I is a severe condition, which can have longer swings and has a higher chance of sending you to a hospital. Bipolar disorder II is when someone experiences symptoms. Bipolar disorder II normaly lasts a few hours or a few days, but studies suggest it is often as severe as in bipolar I disorder.

One of the main causes for young people to get bipolar disorder is that their parents or grandparents have had it. It is harder to tell as the illness can be hidden by behavioural problems.
